HAWC Building Campaign
In the summer of 2009, after providing refuge for 2400 people over 24 years of use, in a 100 year old home, HAWC determined that it needed to purchase a larger, more structurally sound building in order to provide safe, healthy and handicap accessible shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children.
In order to continue to provide victims and their children a safe place to live, HAWC has launched a grassroots community Building Campaign to pay for the purchase and renovation of a new shelter. Despite its 30-year history as the community’s leader in domestic violence prevention, shelter, advocacy, and training, HAWC has not engaged in a capital campaign since 1985 when it purchased the shelter that was used for 24 years.

Our Board of Directors and other friends have been opening their homes to share HAWC’s story and help us to meet our $2.5 million goal. We are now reaching out to current, past and new friends of HAWC, as we race to raise the necessary funds to pay for the purchase and renovation of the new shelter. We have moved in to our new shelter in October 2010, and we are in need of “Leadership” and “Cornerstone” gifts to fund the purchase and renovation of this home. Budget and Naming opportunities
